This painting came from a moment when Yeji was moving through a turbulent chapter of my life. Her body was holding growing tension from the weight of a decision that would soon reshape the trajectory of her life. When she visited the Salish Sea, that weight briefly loosened. She felt held by the water, as if the sea were stopping time just for her.
